The quarterback room in Chicago adds a new voice—one of experience, wisdom, and quiet leadership. The Bears have signed veteran quarterback Case Keenum, a well-traveled signal caller entering his 11th season in the league.
Keenum brings a resume carved from years of navigating the league’s chaos. He’s taken snaps for the Rams (in both St. Louis and Los Angeles), Vikings, Broncos, Washington, Browns, Bills, and most recently, the Texans—where he played a pivotal role mentoring rookie sensation CJ Stroud. And while he’s known for moments like the Minneapolis Miracle, his true value to the Bears lies not in heroics, but in his presence.
This isn’t a competition. Caleb Williams is the starter. Tyson Bagent is the developing young backup. Keenum is the mentor, a seasoned quarterback who will essentially serve as Caleb’s personal coach in the film room and on the practice field—especially when quarterbacks coach JT Barrett is deep in the lab with Ben Johnson and Declan Doyle.
Keenum also brings a historic college pedigree. At the University of Houston, he threw for an NCAA-record 19,217 passing yards and 155 touchdowns—records that still stand today.
This move is less about flash, more about foundation. It’s about giving the franchise quarterback every possible advantage. Keenum knows how to prepare, how to survive, how to teach. The Bears didn’t bring him in to play—they brought him in to elevate.
And now, the room is complete. Caleb has his voice in the headset. The future has its steady hand in the present.
